About Us

About

I am a small hobby breeder of Cardigan Welsh Corgis and have just begun showing Toy Fox Terriers with the eventual goal to breed them, as well. My dogs are all raised in my home with love from the moment their breeding is planned until they pass away, because I offer lifetime support and education for my puppy buyers.

I was born in a dog family, and I have been training dogs since I was a kid. I started showing Manchester terriers as a teenager, and I soon after became interested in dog performance sports, as well. I competed in earthdog and obedience trials with my terriers. While terriers are no longer a good fit for my family, corgis are! I love my breed every bit as much (shh possibly more!) as I did the terriers of my childhood. My dogs compete and get titles in a variety of sports including obedience, agility, herding, trick dog, treibball, and tracking. I only train and compete in sports each individual dog enjoys, but I firmly believe that every dog should have a job. It makes for a healthier, happier, and more well-rounded dog. I also teach classes at my local dog training club.

What you get with a RavenSong Dog

  1. A lifetime support system: I am always available to answer questions and offer advice.
  2. A puppy puppy raised according to the most recent science in dog genetics, care, and training. I am a biologist and firmly believe in backing up all dog-raising protocols with science!
  3. A puppy from temperament- and health-tested parents: to ensure your puppy gets the best possible start in life to be the best pet for you.
  4. A puppy which is fully up-to-date on vaccinations and vet care.
  5. A puppy with proper socialization from day one: so that it will have an easier time adjusting to everything life brings its way, from a new home to training to additional family members.
  6. A puppy culture elements* background: my puppies are slowly introduced to a wide variety of sights, sounds, smells, and experiences so they will be well-adjusted dogs with a healthy ability to explore and learn throughout their life.
  7. A safety net: if you ever cannot keep your RavenSong corgi for any reason, I will take it back and make sure it has a good home either with me or with another new home screened to ensure they meet the same requirements I looked for in you when you applied for a puppy.
  8. The joy of knowing you are helping preserve an uncommon breed: Cardigan Welsh corgis are an uncommon but wonderful breed, and by owning a well-bred, well-adjusted one, you are helping show others how amazing they are!
  9. AKC registration: you will be able to enter your dog in AKC dog sports, if you so choose.

* Puppy Culture is a specific trademarked program, but it comes from a background of dog rearing which has been used by many breeders for decades, with the addition of more recent research. I do not follow Puppy Culture exactly, but my raising methods (which began when I was breeding dogs as a teenager, well before Puppy Culture became such a hit) are in line with Puppy Culture, including following the general timeline of introducing various stimuli. I actively stay on top of new research and incorporate it into my puppy rearing program. I do use some Puppy Culture and some Avidog programs, specifically.
